  6. directly to UCAS, the central processing centre (Universities and Colleges
  7. Admissions Service). The system eliminates time-consuming and error-prone data
  8. entry and will save thousands of hours over processing applications manually.
  9. Applications are received electronically from UCAS each day. After processing,
  10. offers and decisions are returned automatically. The system stores information
  11. relating to students who apply through UCAS, as well as those who apply
  12. directly. Picasso will work with any relational database and will access and
  13. update existing student record databases.
